No Handshake After IND vs PAK: Suryakumar Yadav Dedicates Win to Pahalgam Victims

After the victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday, the Indian team refused to shake hands with the opposing team. On this, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said that it was a collective decision which was supported by the team management and BCCI. It was definitely not a momentary decision.

Suryakumar Yadav spoke on the controversy of not shaking hands

In the India-Pakistan match (India Pakistan No Handshake Controversy), as soon as captain Suryakumar Yadav finished the match with a six, he turned towards the dugout and walked away without looking at the opposing players.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha lined up his teammates for the traditional handshake and even walked halfway towards the Indian dugout, but there was no response from the Indian team.

Surya said in the post-match press conference:

"It was a team decision. We only came to play. We responded to them. Some things are beyond sportsmanship. At the same time, the decision to not change the team sheet was also taken by an important member of the staff who is very clear about his stance on all matters related to Pakistan, but the decision not to shake hands was definitely supported by the BCCI. We are united with our government and the BCCI."

At the same time, the Pakistani captain did not come to the presentation ceremony after the match. Pakistani coach Mike Hesson said that the incident of not shaking hands has definitely increased the bitterness. Hesson said

"We wanted to shake hands but the disappointing opposition didn't do so. We are disappointed with the way we played but we wanted to shake hands. Salman not coming to the post-match presentation was the obvious cause and effect of what happened."
