In India, the IPL is celebrated as a cricket festival. Many star players from Team India once again appear in this tournament, and many new faces also get a chance to showcase their best performances. But now, after the IPL, Team India players will be seen in the Lanka Premier League. This will be the first time that Indian players will appear in Sri Lanka's cricket league. This tournament is going to start on December 1, 2025.

Will Indian players participate in the LPL?

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) has issued a press release stating that "Indian players may appear in this tournament for the first time. The names of all Indian players participating in the tournament will be released soon." This announcement by the LPL is expected to lead to the inclusion of many Indian players in the league.

Five franchises will participate in the Lanka Premier League. Each team will play two matches in the league stage. The four teams with the highest points among these five teams will advance to the playoffs, and one team will miss out on the title.

The teams that qualify for the league stage and reach the playoffs will play several more matches. The top two teams in the points table will play Qualifier 1. The winner will advance directly to the final. The Eliminator will be played between the teams ranked third and fourth in the points table. The losing team will be eliminated from the tournament.

Qualifier 2 will be played between the losing team of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator. The winning team will face the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final. The winning team will win the Lanka Premier League title.
