According to David Warner, his backpack—which had his Baggy Green Australia Test cap—has vanished. David Warner appears to have found himself in a bit of a predicament just before he bids an emotional farewell to red-ball cricket in Australia's third Test match against Pakistan. After the game, Warner is scheduled to retire from Test and ODI cricket. He was expecting to leave the field wearing his Australian cap, but the seasoned opener has stated on social media that he thinks it was stolen.
In what he described as his 'last resort,' Warner uploaded a video to his Instagram account. In the video's caption, he claims that while the second Test was being played in Melbourne, his backpack—which had a few of his 'girls' presents' and his favourite baggy green—did not make it to Sydney Airport. 'Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport and flown on @qantas to Sydney a few days ago,' the caption reads.
I find it sentimental. I would like to hold it in my hands when I go out this week. I have an extra backpack here if this is the one you truly want. Warner said in the video, 'You won't get into trouble.' Please use my social media accounts to contact me or Cricket Australia. If you could just return my Baggy Green, I would be pleased to offer you this.'
Warner said he had talked with the Australian team's Southbank hotel, the Quay West in Melbourne, and Qantas, the airline that transported the team's belongings between cities. 'We've gone through CCTV footage, they've got some blind spots apparently,' he stated. 'We've spoken with the Quay West hotel, which we have complete faith in, and they've checked their cameras and confirmed that nobody has entered our rooms.
