The Women's Premier League (WPL) is a franchise T20 tournament organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in India. The inaugural edition of the tournament was held in 2023 with the aim of promoting women's cricket in India. The WPL features five city-based franchise teams competing for the title: Mumbai Indians (MI) Women, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women, Delhi Capitals (DC) Women, UP Warriorz (UPW), and Gujarat Giants (GG).

WPL 2026 Champion Team Prize Money
The first season of the Women's Premier League was held in 2023 and was won by Mumbai Indians. Mumbai received ₹6 crore for winning the championship, and this prize money has remained the same since the first season. No increase in the prize money has been announced for this season either. This means that whichever team, RCB or Delhi, wins the championship today, will receive ₹6 crore as prize money.
The runner-up team will receive ₹3 crore, the same amount as in the first season. The player of the tournament will receive an additional ₹5 lakh. The Orange Cap winner, Purple Cap winner, the player with the most sixes, and the player with the best strike rate will each receive ₹5 lakh. The Player of the Match in the final will receive ₹2.5 lakh.
Women Premier League (WPL) Winners
WPL 2023 - Mumbai Indians
MI Women became the first champions of the 2023 edition of the Women's Premier League. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, they finished second in the points table after the league stage. In the Eliminator, they comfortably defeated UP Warriorz. After posting a respectable score of 182/4 in the first innings, they bowled out the opposition for just 110 runs.
In the final match, they dominated DC Women with their bowling in the first innings, restricting them to 131/9. Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each. Nat Sciver-Brunt then scored an unbeaten 60 runs to guide MI Women to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
WPL 2024 - Royal Challengers Bangalore
WPL 2024 will be remembered for RCB's remarkable comeback. They secured a playoff spot by finishing third in the points table. Smriti Mandhana and her team defeated MI Women in a thrilling Eliminator match by a narrow margin of just five runs, successfully defending their first-innings total of 135/6. The final was largely one-sided, with RCB chasing down the target of 114 runs with eight wickets to spare. Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux played crucial roles in restricting DC Women to a low score in the first innings, taking four and three wickets respectively.
From finishing third in the points table to lifting the trophy, RCB staged a spectacular comeback in the latter stages of the tournament.
WPL 2025 – Mumbai Indians
Harmanpreet Kaur and her team won their second title in the 2025 edition, defeating Delhi Capitals Women once again in the final. After finishing second in the points table, MI Women thrashed Gujarat Giants Women by a massive 47 runs in the Eliminator, successfully defending their imposing total of 213.
In the final, MI failed to post a big score batting first, managing only 149/7 in their innings, with a crucial contribution from Kaur (66) with a fighting half-century. However, they staged a remarkable comeback with a brilliant team bowling performance, restricting DC Women to 141/9 and winning the match by eight runs.
