Why Afghanistan player Ihsanullah Janat banned for five years?: The Afghanistan Cricket Board has banned young batsman Ihsanullah Janat from all cricketing activities for five years. Janat was accused of match fixing, which he has accepted.
Ihsanullah Janat was found guilty of match fixing during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League. The Afghanistan player has accepted the charges of violating the ACB and ICC anti-corruption code.
26-year-old Ihsanullah Janat made his debut in 2017. He represented Afghanistan in three Tests, 16 ODIs and one T20 International match. Janat was considered a talented cricketer, who was also said to have been made to debut at a young age. This made his journey difficult.
Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC's Anti-Corruption Code, which includes influencing or attempting to fix the result, progress or any aspect of a match. Due to the violation, Janat has been banned from all cricket-related activities for five years. Janat accepted the charges and admitted that he was involved in corrupt activities.

This is a big blow not only for Ihsanullah Janat but also for Afghanistan cricket. ACB has played an important role in promoting KPL, but after this case, its credibility has come under doubt.
However, ACB said that after finding Ihsanullah Janat guilty, the board started investigation of match fixing against three other players.
The statement said, "ACB's anti-corruption unit revealed that three other members are also accused of match fixing and investigation has started. Any further decision will be taken if these allegations are proved."
