English cricketer Kevin Pietersen on Thursday appreciated PM Narendra Modi for taking action up for the planets rhino species and credited his leadership for the increasing number of rhinos in India.
The former English cricketer quoted a tweet by Prime Minister Modi where he was praising the Assam governments decision to burn rhino horns, a coveted item among poachers.
"Thank you, Narendra Modi. A global leader standing up for the planets rhino species. If only more leaders would do the same. And this is the reason why rhino numbers in India are rising exponentially. What a hero," said Kevin Pietersen, who is an active campaigner for saving rhinos.

"Commendable effort by Team Assam. The One-Horned Rhino is Indias pride and all steps will be taken for its well-being," PM Modi said in the tweet.
In a move to desist, poachers, the Assam government had on Wednesday burned 2,479 rhino horns, the worlds largest stockpile destroyed in a single day, to bust a myth that the horns have miraculous medicinal properties.
