Virat Kohli Named in Delhi Ranji Squad, BCCI Issues Strict Guidelines

Virat Kohli has been included in the Delhi squad for their upcoming Ranji Trophy matches, but his participation remains uncertain. The former Indian captain struggled in Australia, scoring just 190 runs in nine innings. His repeated dismissals outside the off-stump have been a concern. Kohli, who has only scored five Test centuries in the past five years, last played in the Ranji Trophy in 2012.

Rishabh Pant has also been named in the Delhi squad. This would be his first Ranji Trophy match in seven years. Ayush Badoni will captain the team.

It is unknown whether Virat Kohli will play in Delhi's next Ranji Trophy fixture against Saurashtra, which will be played in Rajkot on January 23.

Virat Kohli last played the Ranji Trophy in 2012, and if he turns up for Delhi, it will be the first time in 13 years that he has played domestic cricket.

BCCI Issues Strict Guidelines for Domestic Cricket

The BCCI has issued a 10-point guideline for all centrally contracted players, emphasizing discipline and team unity. Players are expected to be available for domestic matches, with non-compliance potentially leading to exclusion from international assignments and contract termination. Exceptions will be considered only with the approval of head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal have already made themselves available for the next round of Ranji Trophy. However, it is not known whether Rohit Sharma will be available for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy fixture against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23.
