Ravichandran Ashwin picks his all-time IPL 11 with MS Dhoni as skipper: Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin selected his best playing-11. A total of seven Indians were included in it. However, Ashwin also took some surprising decisions. He did not include superstar players like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Gautam Gambhir in this playing-11. Ashwin's best eleven included four players from Mumbai Indians, while only two players from his old franchise Chennai Super Kings. In captaincy, Ashwin preferred MS Dhoni over Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both Dhoni and Rohit have won five IPL titles each. However, in Ashwin's eyes, his former captain Dhoni is the best captain. Ashwin selected this team during a chat show on former Indian cricketer K Srikanth's YouTube channel 'Cheeky Cheeka'.

Ashwin chose the pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as openers, while Mr. IPL Suresh Raina was chosen to bat at number three. Rohit and Virat have been opening for their respective franchises in the IPL for a long time. This year, both the veterans also opened for India in the T20 World Cup. Ashwin chose Suryakumar Yadav at number four, while Mr. 360 AB de Villiers was given a place at number five. In terms of wicketkeeping, Ashwin did not take any surprising decision and chose Mahendra Singh Dhoni and also gave him the role of captain. Dhoni is the best wicketkeeper batsman of IPL. He is still representing Chennai.

The surprising thing is that Ashwin did not choose himself nor IPL's highest wicket-taker Yuzvendra Chahal in the spin department. Neither did Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra's name appear in it. In the spin bowling department, Ashwin chose the pair of Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan. Ashwin chose both of them for their batting skills along with spin. Narine created a stir with his batting in IPL 2024. At the same time, Rashid has the ability to bat explosively in the lower order.

Ashwin chose a total of three fast bowlers in the team. These included Lasith Malinga, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah. Bhuvneshwar is currently away from Team India, but he was one of the strike bowlers of IPL and once Team India. While Bhuvneshwar is adept at taking wickets in the powerplay, Malinga and Bumrah can wreak havoc in the death overs. Both have done this many times for Mumbai Indians.
