Earlier, Rilee Rossouw dished out a commanding show and Prithvi Shaw made a smashing return as Delhi piled a gigantic 213/2 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Rossouw returned unbeaten on 82 off 37 balls, which featured six boundaries and the same number of maximums. Meanwhile, making a return to the XI, Shaw lived upto the expectations and scored 54(38). He provided his side with a strong start with skipper David Warner. Together the pair added 94 runs in 10.2 overs, before Dhawan grabbed a stunning catch to get rid of Warner for 46(31). Phil Salt too chipped in with a 14-ball 26. Chasing a stiff target, Punjab Kings got off to a poor start as openers Mayank Agarwal (16) and Jonny Bairstow (11) were dismissed inside the powerplay.
Shikhar Dhawan (28) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (11) tried to steady the innings but their partnership was broken by Shardul Thakur, who dismissed Rajapaksa. Dhawan too fell soon after, caught by Shaw off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. With the asking rate mounting, Punjab Kings needed Livingstone to come good and he did just that. He smashed the ball all over the park and brought the equation down to 37 runs off the last two overs. However, he was dismissed on the final ball of the match, caught by Shaw off the bowling of Axar Patel.
