Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the interim chief selector of Pakistan. He has replaced Mohammad Wasim Abbasi. Pakistan cricket is going through a phase of change. Two days ago, Najam Sethi became the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board in place of Rameez Raja and now the chief selector of the team has also been changed. Pakistan had recently suffered a 0-3 defeat in the home Test series against England. After this humiliating defeat, there has been a ruckus in Pakistan cricket and for this reason changes are taking place in the cricket board here.
Afridi will serve as Pakistans selector for the time being, but a permanent selector will be chosen in due course. A few months ago, the England team was badly defeated in the Ashes and there were many changes in the England Cricket Board. Brendon McCullum became the new coach of the team and since then the England team has been doing wonders. Now the Pakistan Cricket Board is also following the same pattern.
Along with Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum are also part of the selection committee. The first responsibility the PCB has given to the new selection committee is to review the team selected by the old selection committee and make changes if the right players are not selected. This team will play in the home Test series against New Zealand.

So, in our collective opinion, there is no one better than him to understand the demands and challenges of modern-day sports. Through his understanding, he will help pick the best team for Pakistan. He will give opportunities to deserving players who will contribute to the teams success."
All committees constituted under the 2019 constitution and the main selection committee were also dissolved. A new committee has been formed in its place. Afridi was originally included in the management committee, but left it, saying that he would not be able to do justice to the job, as he wanted to focus on his charitable foundation. However, he did participate in the first meeting of the new management committee on Friday by joining via video link.
