The squad will be led by veteran Zeeshan Maqsood and will feature a core group of experienced line-ups that helped them excel at the Global Qualifiers in the UAE two years ago.
Ayan Khan, Nestor Dhamba, Khurram Khan, and Sufyan Mahmood has earned a World Cup call-up, including spinners Jay Odedra and Amir Kalim, to add eleven players to the squad that was successful in the qualifying campaign.
Ayan Khan and Nestor Dhamba launched a new form of spin attack for Oman, joined by leg-spinning all-rounder Khawar Ali, who is also dependable at the top of the batting order. Sufian has been out of the national team after playing four T20 Internationals in an international career spanning six years. With the bat, Oman is banking on their experience, with Jatinder Singh joining Khawar Ali, captain Zeeshan Maqsood and Aaqib Ilyas being locked in for middle-order roles. All-rounders Mohammad Nadeem and Sandeep Gaur can be 'keeper Suraj Kumar's teammates in the death overs.
Oman tasted the top level of T20I cricket in 2016 when they made the first round of the T20 World Cup in India. They will be bidding for a better go this time and are aiming for a top-two finish in Group B with Bangladesh, Scotland, and Papua New Guinea playing all their matches in familiar home conditions. While hosting the upcoming One Day Internationals as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Action, Oman has kept the pace for the shortest format by hosting Mumbai's home team.
