After Pakistan were outplayed by Naveen-ul-Haq's team in the World Cup, Gautam Gambhir sent a special message to Afghanistan.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir was blown away by Afghanistan's performance against Pakistan on Monday, as the giant killers handed the 1992 winners a third consecutive defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Hashmatullah Shahidi's men defeated Babar Azam and Co. in match No.22 of the ICC tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, extending Pakistan's winless streak in the One Day International (ODI) World Cup hosted by India.

Afghanistan's first-ever ODI victory over Pakistan has pushed Babar and company to the verge of elimination. Afghanistan has upset defending champions England in the current edition of the ICC tournament prior to their surprise triumph over Pakistan. Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir took to Instagram after Afghanistan staged another shock in India, congratulating Shahidi's troops and stating that Afghanistan are no longer the World Cup underdogs.

'No longer the underdogs'

"No longer the underdogs! This is their yard now!,"

Gambhir said in his post. Pacer Naveen-ul-Haq too had a wonderful reply to Gambhir's message. Gambhir, the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), spoke briefly with Naveen following India's match against Afghanistan.

In the recently finished World Cup match in Chennai, speedster Naveen took two wickets and surrendered 52 runs in seven overs against Pakistan at the Chepauk. Noor Ahmad, Naveem's colleague, set a career high with figures of 282-7 in the 50-over encounter.

Half-centuries from openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and Ibrahim Zadran (87) established the groundwork for a victorious run-chase at the Chepauk. Pacers Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali only took two wickets as unbroken runs from Rahmat Shah (77) and Shahidi (48) secured Afghanistan's eight-wicket victory over Pakistan.
