The adoring Chepauk crowd went into a frenzy as they caught a glimpse of their beloved 'Thala', Dhoni, as he carted two big sixes in style. The first six traveled a whopping 89 meters before Dhoni dispatched another to the boundary ropes. However, the CSK skipper was dismissed off the third ball of the over when he tried to go for a third six but ended up losing his wicket after scoring 12 runs off three deliveries.
Dhoni, who achieved the milestone in his 236th IPL match, joined an elite list of players, including Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and AB de Villiers, who have scored over 5,000 runs in the IPL. Currently, Kohli leads the chart with 6,706 runs in 224 matches, followed by Dhawan (6,284 in 207 matches), Warner (5,937 in 163 matches), Rohit (5,880 runs in 228 matches), Raina (5,528 runs in 205 matches), and de Villiers (5,162 runs in 184 matches).
