The Lucknow LKN team is one step away from securing a place in the play-offs. The team has 16 points from 13 matches and a win in this match will ensure its playoff ticket. The team of two-time champion KOL reached the finals last year but this season they could not maintain the momentum. The team, however, kept its hopes alive by registering wins against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad (MI vs SRH) in the last two matches.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side (KOL) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 54 runs in the last match due to Andre Russells all-rounder game and strong performances from the bowlers. After the top-order faltering in this match, Russell and Sam Billings took the team to 177 for six and then the bowlers did their job brilliantly.
Ajinkya Rahanes struggle at the top of the order continues, while Venkatesh Iyer, the hero of the last season, is disappointed this season. Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer have failed to perform consistently. After recovering from injury, Umesh Yadav supported Tim Southee well and Russell also took some important wickets. The spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty also found momentum in the last few matches.
The team of Lucknow LKN would like to break the chain of two consecutive defeats in this match. The batsmen of the team have been disappointed in both these matches. The team is excessively dependent on captain Lokesh Rahul. He has scored two centuries in the season but has failed to score big in the last three matches. The same is the case with veteran Quinton de Kock. He has scored only 11 and seven runs in the last two innings.
However, the biggest positive thing for the team is the rhythm of Deepak Hooda, who is scoring runs consistently. However, the team of Lucknow Super Giants would like to make better use of young Ayush Badoni and Marcus Stoinis. The teams bowling was good in most of the matches of the season but in the last match against them, the Rajasthan Royals batsmen did not have trouble in scoring runs. If Lucknow has to register a win in this match, then Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Jason Holder, and Ravi Bishnoi will have to bowl well.
