Prior to their September 30 exhibition match against England for the Cricket World Cup 2023, the Indian men's cricket squad arrived in Guwahati on Thursday. The 15-player Indian World Cup 2023 squad, which now includes veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in lieu of Axar Patel, was announced earlier in the day.
After suffering a left quadriceps strain during India's Asia Cup Super Four match against Bangladesh, Axar was unable to recuperate in time for the World Cup. The spin-bowling all-rounder consequently missed India's three-match ODI series against Australia as well as the Asia Cup final.
