India Possible Squad for T20I Series against Bangladesh

Team India's likely Squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh:

After the conclusion of the ongoing Test series, India is set to play three T20 matches against Bangladesh. This series marks the return of wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, who has been in impressive form in the Duleep Trophy 2024. To facilitate his comeback, the BCCI is likely to rest key players Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill, who have been involved in consecutive Test matches. The leadership mantle is expected to be handed over to Suryakumar Yadav, who will captain the side.

The official announcement of India’s squad for the T20 series against Bangladesh is anticipated later this week. With Rishabh Pant expected to be rested, Sanju Samson is poised to take on the role of the primary wicketkeeper. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team will face Bangladesh in what promises to be an exciting T20 series. Samson’s return is particularly significant given his recent performances, and he will be looking to solidify his place in the team.

Sanju Samson’s chances of reclaiming his spot are bolstered by the selection of Ishan Kishan for the Irani Cup, which means Kishan will not be available for the T20 series against Bangladesh. The Duleep Trophy match, scheduled from October 1 to 5, ends just a day before the first T20 match on October 6 in Gwalior, making it impractical for Kishan to join the T20 squad. This scenario makes Samson the likely first choice for the wicketkeeping role, with Jitesh Sharma expected to serve as the backup wicketkeeper.

In the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, Sanju Samson scored 196 runs at an average of 49 across four innings, while Ishan Kishan managed 134 runs at an average of 33.50. Despite Samson’s strong performance, the lingering question remains whether these numbers will be enough to erase the memories of his two ducks in the last two T20 matches against Sri Lanka in July.

The first T20 match against Bangladesh is scheduled for October 6 in Gwalior, followed by matches on October 9 in New Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad. This series will be a crucial opportunity for Samson to prove his mettle and for the Indian team to test its bench strength ahead of future international assignments.
