Axar Patel was replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin on Thursday in the final Team India roster for the ICC World Cup 2023. Axar Patel, who suffered an injury during the 2023 Asia Cup, will not participate in the World Cup. He previously missed the India-Australia series, which saw a remarkable performance by Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the recently finished ODI series against Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin played outstandingly. The 37-year-old might give India's bowling lineup, which currently lacks an off-spinner, some much-needed diversity. Patel, on the other hand, is a far better batsman at position eight, as evidenced by his recent results.
With Ravichandran Ashwin's participation, Virat Kohli is the only other player from India's successful 2011 World Cup campaign to have returned to cricket's most prestigious event after a 12-year absence.Ashwin's presence continued into the 2015 World Cup, which was played in Australia and New Zealand. During that tournament, Ashwin brilliantly recorded 13 wickets from eight games, helping India advance to the quarterfinals. Until the 2017 Champions Trophy, he continued to play a significant part in India's limited-overs cricket team.
"This World Cup is going to be huge. An important competition is the World Cup. It is exciting because of how well India has been playing. For the next 45 days, we hope they keep playing excellent cricket," Ganguly told the reporters.
