Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Harshit Rana led the team to victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad by bowling brilliantly in the final over, but during the match he lost his temper twice and did such a shameful act due to which he was fined heavily. IPL has imposed a fine of 60 percent of the match fee on Harshit due to his misconduct. According to IPL, Harshit has violated Level-1 of the IPL Code of Conduct twice during the match. For this reason, this KKR bowler has been fined 60 percent of the match fee. According to the statement, Harshit has accepted the fine imposed on him.

KKR had set a target of 209 runs for Hyderabad to win. In reply, Mayank and Abhishek Sharma gave a fast start to Hyderabad. Both the batsmen together had scored 60 runs in 5.3 overs, but Harshit, who came to bowl the sixth over, got Mayank caught by Rinku Singh. Harshit gave the first success to KKR which the team much needed. However, after taking the wicket of Mayank, Harshit got too excited and lost his senses. After taking Mayank's wicket, an excited Harshit went to Mayank and gave him a flying kiss. The calm natured Mayank did not like this style of Harshit and he kept looking at this fast bowler, but without saying anything he walked towards the pavilion. After this, in the final over, Harshit did something similar after dismissing Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen had brought Hyderabad close to winning the match, but while trying to play a big shot, he got caught by Suyyash Sharma on Harshit's ball. From here the match turned in favor of KKR and the team was successful in registering victory.

Harshit Rana may have made headlines by making his team win the match, but even veteran Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar did not like his actions. Gavaskar, who was commentating during the match, criticized Harshit's behaviour.
