Even before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, shocking news has come out from the world of cricket. The star player of the England team has been banned due to betting. This player had bet not on one or two matches but on 303 matches. This fast bowler himself has admitted this. England bowler Brydon Carse has been banned from all formats of cricket for betting on 303 matches. The cricketer has been sentenced to 16 months. According to media reports, Carse will be suspended for 13 months in these 16 months.
Brydon Carse has been accused of breaching anti-corruption rules by betting on 303 cricket matches over a period of more than two years. Carse has pleaded guilty to gambling charges following an investigation by the independent regulatory body, saying he breached ECB gambling rules by betting on 303 cricket matches between 2017 and 2019.
The investigation also revealed that he did not place bets on the matches he was playing in, but a report in the Telegraph said he had placed money on Durham's matches.

After the ban imposed on him, Carse will not be able to play till August 28, which has ended his possible participation in England's Test series against the West Indies. On this whole matter, a spokesperson of the England Cricket Board (ECB) said, we take these matters very seriously and do not tolerate any kind of anti-corruption violation in cricket. We hope that his case can become an instructive example for other cricketers. At the same time, Dave Lewis, interim director of the cricket regulator, said - The cricket regulator takes any violation of misconduct seriously, other cricketers will improve after this act.
The 28-year-old bowling all-rounder has taken 15 wickets in 14 ODIs for England, apart from this he has also scored 32 runs. Carse has taken 4 wickets in 3 T20 Internationals for England. Note that this is the same bowler who was sent to the crease in the evening in place of Reece Topley in the England team in the joint ODI World Cup held in India. Reece Topley was injured during the World Cup. However, Carse did not get a chance to play any match during the World Cup. Carse was included in the Central Intelligence Agencies by the ECB for two years.
