Like last year in IPL, this time also 10 teams were kept. Last time only Royal Challengers Bangalore made South African Faf du Plessis as captain and 9 teams had Indian captains. At the same time, along with RCB, Delhi Capitals made Australia's David Warner and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram of South Africa.
SRH and DC remained at the last position in the points table. Whereas RCB finished at the sixth position. Apart from foreign captains, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings had Indian captains among the teams that were eliminated from the league stage, but they too could not make it to the playoffs.
