Top 6 Upcoming Marvel Movies You Must Not Miss in 2024

Akanksha - February 14, 2024 11:47 PM

Numerous thrilling Marvel films are set for release in 2024 thanks to Sony and the MCU. The MCU is what most people associate with Marvel, but the success of recent films such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has given us a firsthand glimpse of the possibility that other Marvel films could also be huge hits. For this reason, fans are eagerly awaiting the release slate for 2024. How many films will be released in 2024 is now a little more unclear than it was before because of recent changes in the Marvel film franchise.

Due to internal restructuring and the impact of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which postponed several upcoming releases, the release dates of several Marvel films and television series have changed. Some movies have seen significant modifications as a result of these causes; they have been pushed from 2023 into 2024, moved much farther into 2024, or, in an uncommon instance, brought earlier. The Marvel picture slate for 2024 has undergone some significant changes, but overall, the schedule is still quite promising and should provide fans with a fantastic range of cinematic experiences.

1. Madame Web: February 14, 2024

The highly anticipated Sony film Madame Web, which was pushed ahead by two days by Sony's Marvel movie release modifications, opens in theatres on February 14, 2024, to kick off this year's Marvel slate. The cast of the female-led Marvel adventure is amusing. An all-star cast is featured. The cast of Madame Web includes Adam Scott, Emma Roberts, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Dakota Johnson. Along with Madame Web, the film will include three separate Spider-Man comic book characters, including two iterations of Spider-Woman and Spider-Girl.

The original Madame Web appeared in Marvel Comics as Cassandra Webb, an old blind and crippled lady with multiverse-accessing skills. The fact that Tahar Rahim's character was photographed on the Madame Web set wearing an outfit resembling Spider-Man might be a clue for a major multiverse event fit for the comic book superhero's big screen debut. The film has a lot of potential based on Madame Web's comic book background, the cast's extraordinary skill, and the prevalence of the multiverse in superhero culture right now.

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Superhero
Release Date: February 14, 2024
Director: S.J. Clarkson
Cast: Dakota Johnson, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Isabela Merced, Sydney Sweeney

2. Deadpool 3: July 26, 2024

Deadpool 3

With Deadpool 3 slated to be the first time Marvel Studios reintroduces a Fox character as the main character of an MCU film, the franchise will enter a new chapter. Hugh Jackman, who previously stated he was done playing Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, both make a comeback in this film. Deadpool 3 will now be released on July 26, 2024, instead of its original release date of November 8, 2024, which was pushed back to May 3, 2024. Even that date was an option.

Deadpool 3 is still a strong contender to be this year's largest superhero film release, even with this setback. This is partly because it is presently Disney's sole 2024 MCU film, with Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts being shifted to the 2025 timeframe. In the end, it seems like this could have been a smart option because the announcement of these schedule changes was made following the end of the Hollywood strikes, indicating that these choices were taken to allow the movies to have a complete production duration without being pushed.

Release Date: July 26, 2024
Director: Shawn Levy
Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Jennifer Garner

3. Kraven The Hunter: August 30, 2024

Kraven The Hunter

Kraven the Hunter, which was originally scheduled to premiere on October 3, 2023, will instead take place on August 30, 2024, marking the last release date for the Sony Spider-Man Universe films of 2024. This is a risky decision that can undo the positive momentum that has already been created, but it might also be advantageous for the movie as a whole, as the movie's early, closer proximity to the notorious Morbius-inspired jokes that would have been avoided with a later release.

A good reaction is important here since Aaron Taylor-Johnson's reimagining of the title Spider-Man villain, Kraven the Hunter, has a modified origin narrative that may be meant to inspire a separate series. In fact, it seems that this choice is meant to establish Kraven as a possible antagonist in the Sony live-action cinematic universe. If the movie does well enough, it may even pave the way for a Sinister Six movie.

Release Date: August 30, 2024
Director: J. C. Chandor
Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Russell Crowe, Christopher Abbott

4. Venom 3: November 8, 2024

Venom 3

Venom 3 was originally scheduled to launch on June 24, 2024, however, it was pushed back until November 8, 2024. Being the third film in the most popular series in Sony's live-action Spider-Man world, Venom 3 can help explain if this was a simple crossover moment or something more. It can also provide insight into what Sony's Marvel universe will look like.

Venom 3 may have a more multiverse-leaning narrative, as hinted by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, where the villain visits the Venom universe to meet with Mrs. Chen, the proprietor of the convenience store in both of the live-action films that have been produced. As of right now, only Tom Hardy's portrayal of Eddie Brock is confirmed, but Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor are cast in unspecified parts. It remains to be seen if the movie will make the most of its two multiverse crossover scenes.

Genre: Adventure, Sci-Fi, Superhero, Action
Release Date: November 8, 2024
Director: Kelly Marcel
Cast: Tom Hardy, Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor

5. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse - TBD

The following two films in Sony's Academy Award–winning animated Spider-Verse movie trilogy were originally intended to be two halves of one film, but they were eventually divided into separate releases. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in June 2023 to enormous critical and economic success. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was once scheduled to open on March 29, 2024, after the release of the second film.

However, because of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the upcoming release date of Beyond the Spider-Verse has been rescheduled to an unknown time as part of the Sony Marvel movie alterations. The performers who provided the voices of the movie's characters were impacted by the strikes, even though animators were unaffected. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse may still be released in 2024, but depending on the situation, a 2025 release date may be feasible and even preferable, according to a source in the Spider-Verse animator roster who also claimed that the film would not be able to meet its original March 2024 release date because the production was not at a stage for this timeline to work.

Genre: Adventure, Animation, Action
Director: Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson
Cast: Shameik Moore

6. MCU TV Shows Releasing In 2024

The upcoming MCU TV shows released in 2024 have also changed as a result of similar circumstances, with Daredevil: Born Again being removed from a 2024 release date to an indefinite one due to production delays. The 2024 MCU movies are not the only series that have seen some shakeups as a result of release alterations.

In addition, Marvel said in December 2023 that Eyes of Wakanda, a brand-new animated series based on Black Panther's Wakanda, will be added to the 2024 schedule. Furthermore, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was renamed and reaffirmed for 2024 in place of Spider-Man: Freshman Year. Six MCU series are presently scheduled to premiere in 2024, while nearly all of them have unclear release dates at this time and might change even after they are publicly confirmed, similar to the Marvel film roster:

Show Name Announced Release Window
Echo January 10, 2024
X-Men '97 Early 2024
Agatha: Coven Of Chaos Fall 2024
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man TBD 2024
Eyes Of Wakanda TBD 2024
Marvel Zombies TBD 2024
