Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is preparing to launch its first electric two-wheeler. According to media reports, the company will introduce an electric scooter in the Indian market on November 27, it could be the e-Activa. The launch invitation sent by Honda has the slogans 'Watts Ahead' and 'Lightning Bolt'.
The company says that this scooter will be as powerful as the Activa 110 and will get a range of 100km on a single charge. It will also be launched with a swappable battery. The company recently introduced its concept model at the auto show EICMA in Milan, Italy. After launch, it will compete with the TVS i-Cube, Ather Rizta, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 range.
Design
The E-Activa has a traditional scooter design, which looks quite simple. The headlight is provided on the front panel, while the Activa petrol version has a headlight on the handle bar. The electric scooter will be offered with three color options. These include Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Premium Silver Metallic.
The Honda electric scooter has telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It uses a 190mm front disc and a 110mm drum brake at the rear. It has 12-inch alloy wheels on both sides. The E-Activa will have a wheelbase of 1,310mm, seat height of 765mm and ground clearance of 270mm.
Performance
According to media reports, the Honda CUV e electric scooter will be equipped with a mid-mounted electric motor with a maximum power of 6kW. The scooter will have three riding modes - Standard, Sport and Eco. Apart from this, physical key and reverse modes will also be available as standard.
To power the motor, two removable batteries of 1.3kWh will be available, which will give a range of 70km on a single charge and its top speed will be 80kmph. The electric scooter takes 3 hours to charge from 0 to 75% and takes 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100% with a standard charger.
Features
In terms of features, the CUV e gets two different TFT consoles, the standard variant gets a 5-inch instrument console but it does not have smartphone connectivity. While the Honda RoadSync Duo variant will get a 7-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for navigation, call/SMS alerts and music control. The electric scooter will also get an all-LED lighting setup and a USB-C charging port.
