Kia electric SUV EV3 revealed, will come to India in 2025

Korean auto maker Kia Motors has revealed its fourth electric car EV3 globally after EV9, EV6 and EV5. The company's new electric SUV, like its other electric models, is based on the E-GMP modular platform. Kia claims that the electric car will run up to 600 kilometers once fully charged.

The Kia EV3 will be launched in Korea by July 2024, followed by the European market. Electric SUV will arrive in India by 2025. Its starting price can be Rs 30 lakh ex-showroom. In the Indian market, the EV will compete directly with BYD Ato-3, while it can also be a premium option for Maruti EVX, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV and Tata Curve EV.

Kia EV3: Exterior Design

The production version model of Kia EV3 looks similar to the concept model introduced in 2023. Its overall look is similar to Kia's latest electric car EV9. Its front has a closed grill and a small slit that acts as an air intake. Setup of L shaped LED DRL and LED headlights has been provided on both the corners. There is also a more practically designed air dam on the bumper with a silver skid plate at the bottom.

The side profile of the car gets conventional outside rearview mirrors, thick body cladding, square wheel arches and sloping roof line. Apart from this, Kia has also given inverted aerodynamic alloy wheels in it. These give a funky look to the SUV. The new Kia EV3 electric car has flush fitting door handles for the front doors and roof portion black inserts near the C pillar, giving it a floating effect.

Talking about the rear look, L shaped LED taillights are provided here, which are connected to a plastic element. Apart from this, it has a raked windshield and model and 'GT' badging. A GT version of the car will also come. In this, all the silver exterior elements have been given black color finishing. To make it different from other models, it will be given a differently designed bumper and different sporty alloy wheels.

Kia EV3: Interior Design

Talking about the interior design, Kia has given a practical layout to the dashboard of EV3 where it has touch enabled controls for infotainment, physical controls for AC and sleek central vents. The EV3 has a steering wheel like the EV6 facelift model. A sliding center console and storage area is provided between the two front seats. Its GT version will get 3 spoke steering wheel of different design.

The company has made the EV3 with eco-friendly materials, including recycled fabric on the dashboard and door trims and polyethylene terephthalate in many areas of the interior. This includes seats, door armrests and floor mats. Kia has given different types of cabin theme options in EV3 which is inspired by the elements of air, water and earth.

Kia EV3: Features

The car has a 12.3-inch display, which includes infotainment and instrumentation cluster. Touch control panel is given in the middle. Apart from this, features like 12-inch head-up display, a sunroof and ambient lighting setup have been provided in the car. It has been provided with Harman Kardon sound system and Kia's new AI assistant, which will answer your questions.

For safety, Kia EV3 has been provided with features like forward collision avoidance, lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control under multiple airbags, stability program and Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance System.

Kia EV3: Performance

Kia EV3 has an electric motor for performance, which can generate power of 201 bhp and peak torque of 283 Nm. The company claims that the upcoming electric car can accelerate to 100 kmph in just 7.5 seconds and its top speed is 180 kmph.

Kia EV3: Battery and Range

Kia EV3 will be launched in the international market with two battery pack options. Its standard variant will have a 58.3kWh battery pack and the long range variant will have a 81.4kWh battery pack. The company claims that the long range variant of the car can run 600 kilometers on full charge.

The charging details of the car have not been revealed, but with the help of DC fast charger, its battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 31 minutes. The smaller battery pack will come with fast charging support up to 102 kW and the larger battery pack will come with fast charging support up to 128 kW. The vehicle 2 load feature is also provided in the car, through which other electric devices can be charged. Kia has also given single paddle drive mode in it like modern electric cars.
