Who Is Dawood Ibrahim

One of the world’s most wanted fugitives, Ibrahim was named among the most wanted fugitives in the world after he was found to be a mastermind in the 1993 bombings in Bombay. He was declared a global terrorist by both the USA and India, with a reward of $25 million on his head.

Born on 26 December 1955, to a Konkani Muslim family in Maharashtra, Ibrahim started committing fraud, theft, and robbery as a youngster. In the 1970s, he created his crime syndicate with his elder brother Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar. After his brother was killed off by a rival Pathan gang, he assumed control and blamed the gang ‘D-Company’. The gang specialised in many activities which included theft, extortion and kidnapping, real estate, and drug trafficking.

Although several reports speculated that he may have been poisoned, the Pakistani media have not confirmed it yet. The mobster, however, is being kept under tight security at the hospital. As per reports, he is the only patient on his floor. Only immediate family members and the top hospital authorities have access to his ward.
