Ramesh Mendis is a Sri Lankan all-rounder known for his right-arm off-break bowling and right-handed batting. His rise in Sri Lanka's domestic cricket scene began in March 2018 when he was named to Kandy's squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. Later, he joined Dambulla's squad for the 2018 SLC T20 League, further establishing his presence in the domestic circuit.
The 2018-19 season was a breakthrough one for Ramesh, as he became the leading run-scorer for Moors Sports Club in the Premier League Tournament, amassing 612 runs in nine matches. His all-round brilliance also saw him top the bowling charts for his team, claiming 30 wickets in the same tournament.
