His cricketing journey began at Theraputta National School in Hambantota, where his talent as a fast bowler was evident from a young age.​

Madushan's early promise led him to Australia in 2013, where he played for the Narre Warren Cricket Club in Victoria. During his six-month stint, he impressed by taking over 25 wickets, an experience that significantly boosted his confidence and honed his skills.
