As a leg-spinner, Poonam Yadav stands out with a googly like no one else in the women’s game. Over the years, she has bamboozled several batters and now it's time for her to turn up in the DC colours, showing her skills in the inaugural Women’s Premier League.

At a very young age, her father, Raghuveer Singh Yadav, who is a retired army officer, identified her talent and decided to shift to Agra in order to help her avail better facilities. He also motivated her during her tough times. She made her debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2007-08 season and kept being a strong performer in the team until her India call-up.

In 2013, she made her India debut and has not looked back since. She became a regular player in the team, considering the fact that she could bowl leg-spin, an art quite a rare thing in the women’s game.
