Blessed with tremendous talent, Doug Bracewell's big hitting prowess coupled with the ability to swing the ball both ways make him a dangerous prospect for any opposition. A regular feature for the Central Districts since 2008, Doug Bracewell is a promising all-rounder who comes from a generation of New Zealand cricketers in his family. Son of former Test cricketer Brendon and nephew of the legendary player John, Doug was named in the Under-19 World Cup squad in 2010 along with cousin, Michael.
Aged 21, Bracewell made his international debut on the tour to Zimbabwe and impressed with his swing and pace with consistent displays. He continued the good form and went on to become just the seventh New Zealand bowler to scalp a five-for on debut in Bulawayo. His best moment was yet to come though, on the 2011 Australian tour he wreaked havoc with the ball in the fourth innings with figures of 6/40 and helped New Zealand clinch a thriller to level the two-match series. It was New Zealand's first victory in Australia after 26 years. For the first time, he was signed up in the Indian T20 League to play for Delhi in its 2012 edition.
Frequent injuries and inconsistencies meant that he has had a roller-coaster ride in the limited overs sides for New Zealand. He was a regular in the Test side but better performances from pacers like Trent Boult and Neil Wagner meant that he has had to spend time on the sidelines of late.
