The auction for the next season of the Women's Premier League. WPL 2025 was held today. The auction for IPL 2025 was held just last month, in which each player was bid at eight to ten crores and even more than 15 crores. But if we talk about the Women's Premier League, 19 players were sold for just Rs 9.5 crore.
A total of 124 players were bought in the mini auction with 19 slots. Teams had already retained most of their players, so neither many players were bought nor much money was spent. There were only four players in the entire auction whose bids were more than Rs 1 crore. Uncapped Indians Simran Sheikh, G Kamalinee and Prema Rawat along with West Indies icon Deandra Dottin attracted big bids in the auction field.
Simran became the most expensive player of the WPL 2025 auction after she was bought by Gujarat Giants for Rs 1.9 crore. She entered at a base price of Rs 10 lakh and a bidding war was witnessed between Delhi Capitals and Giants. Dottin, one of the star players from West Indies, was also bought by the Giants for Rs 1.7 crore.
