This time the Indian team is a strong contender to reach the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25. The team has reached the final twice, but has faced defeat every time.

World Test Championship Final: 4 teams almost out of the race

A total of two editions of the World Test Championship have been held so far and the third is being played. New Zealand has won the WTC title once and Australia once. 9 teams are participating in the World Test Championship 2023-25 and are trying their best to reach the final. It seems very difficult for 4 out of 9 teams to reach the final. These teams are almost out of the race for the final. In one edition of the World Test Championship, every team has to play a total of 6 series, out of which 3 are at home and 3 abroad. Each series can have two to five Test matches.

The top two teams in the points table of 9 teams play the final match of the World Test Championship. If a team's PCT is above 60, then its chances of reaching the final increase. This time India, Australia, Sri Lanka and South Africa are strong contenders to reach the final. Team India has reached the final twice before, but both times it has faced defeat.

West Indies: The West Indies team is currently at the bottom of the points table. The team has played a total of 9 matches so far, out of which it has won only one, while it has lost 6 matches. While its PCT is 18.52. It still has to play four Tests (two against Bangladesh and two against Pakistan). If it manages to win the remaining four matches, its PCT will be 43.59, which will not be enough to reach the final. West Indies' hopes of reaching the final are almost over.

Pakistan: The Pakistani team has not been able to perform well for some time. The team had to lose the Test series 2-0 at home against Bangladesh. After this, it lost the first Test against England. The Pakistani team is currently at number 8 in the points table. The team has played 9 matches, out of which it has won 3 and lost 6. Its PCT is 25.93. They still have 5 test matches left, which they have to play against England (one test), South Africa (two tests) and West Indies (two tests). Now even if the Pakistani team wins all the remaining matches, their PCT will not reach above 60. In such a situation, it seems impossible for them to reach the final.

Bangladesh: Bangladesh recently won the Test series against Pakistan 2-0. But after this it had to lose the series against India. It is at number 7 in the points table, the team has played a total of 8 matches so far, out of which it has won 3 and lost five. Its PCT has been 34.38. Bangladesh still has to play four Tests (two against West Indies and two against South Africa). Even if the team manages to win all four matches, its PCT will still be 56.25. Due to which it will not be possible for it to come in the top-2 in the points table.

England: The England team is at number five in the points table, the team has played 18 Test matches, out of which it has won 9 and lost 8. Its PCT is 43.06. England still has to play four Test matches (one against Pakistan and three against New Zealand). By winning all these matches, the England team can only reach 57.95 PCT, which will be insufficient to reach the final.
