Australia explosive all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been injured and out of action for a long time. However, Maxwell is expected to return soon.
India's tour of Australia begins on October 19th. Team India will first play the ODI series on this tour. This will be followed by a five-match T20 series between the two teams. Australia has announced its squad for the ODIs and the first two T20Is. Glenn Maxwell was not included in the squad selected for the first two T20Is, but he is likely to play in the last three matches.
Glenn Maxwell is hopeful he will be able to play in Australia's upcoming T20 series against India despite undergoing surgery on his right wrist last week. Maxwell recently fractured his wrist. He suffered the injury after being hit by a powerful shot from Mitchell Owen while bowling in the nets ahead of the T20 series against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. He was immediately flown back to Australia to see a specialist. He then decided to undergo surgery to play against India and shorten his recovery time to four weeks.
Maxwell was not included in the Australian squad for the first two T20Is in Canberra and Melbourne on October 29 and 31, but on October 9 in Melbourne, he expressed hope that he would be fit to play in the final three matches. The third match of the series will be played in Hobart on November 2, the fourth in Gold Coast on November 6, and the final match in Brisbane on November 8.
Maxwell said he feels his surgery last week gives him some hope of playing in the series against India. He further said that he had to undergo surgery because he had two options: either skip the series altogether and not undergo any surgery, or undergo surgery.

Maxwell stated that his cast has been removed and he will now wear a plastic bandage to protect it for a while. He has also been cleared to move his wrist again. Maxwell stated that he met with a hand therapist yesterday. He simply explained some basic movements, which may seem boring, but he believes will strengthen his wrist. Returning early for the final match of the series against India does not pose any additional risk of injury. Maxwell stated that his biggest concern will be pain management, which will depend on how he feels while batting.
