Cricket Australia on Tuesday once again reiterated that it will stand with the players on the decision whether to go to India to play the remaining matches of IPL 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday released the schedule of the remaining matches of the 18th season of the IPL. According to this, the tournament will start from May 17 at six venues and its final match will be played on June 3.
The IPL matches are starting at a time when Australia and South Africa will be preparing for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. After the release of the schedule of the remaining matches of the IPL, a situation of concern has arisen for the Test players of both these countries. The WTC final is to be played at Lord's ground from June 11.

Will Australian players return to India for the remainder of IPL 2025?: Cricket Australia is issuing a statement, after the announcement of IPL resumption from Saturday, Cricket Australia has decided that it will respect the personal decision of the players to return to India or not. The team management will work on preparing for the World Test Championship final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches. We are in touch with the BCCI and the Australian government regarding security arrangements.
In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the IPL was postponed for a week. Under the revised schedule, the tournament will now end eight days before the WTC final in London in which Australia faces South Africa. Australian players playing for various IPL teams have reached their homes. Only members of the coaching staff like Ricky Ponting and Brad Haddin are in India. Captain Pat Cummins, fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have returned home.
