The decision to cancel the opening ceremony this year stems not from any technical issue, but rather from a deeply emotional and tragic reason. Last year, specifically on June 4, a horrific incident occurred at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
In fact, RCB had won their maiden IPL title last year, and to celebrate this historic victory, the management organized a free event at the stadium the very next day. Due to a lack of adequate preparations combined with an overwhelming crowd, a stampede broke out outside the stadium, resulting in the deaths of 11 fans. The BCCI has decided to cancel this year's opening ceremony precisely to pay its respects and offer tribute to those who lost their lives in that tragedy.
