The opening matches of the IPL are going to be challenging for Mumbai Indians. Jasprit Bumrah may miss a few matches due to injury, while captain Hardik Pandya will not be able to play the first match of the IPL due to the ban. Mumbai Indians will play their first match of the IPL on March 23 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Hardik Pandya started his IPL career in 2015 playing for Mumbai Indians. After this, he remained an important player of this franchise till 2021. In 2022, he played as captain in Gujarat Titans and made them champions in the very first year. In 2023 also, he led Gujarat to the final under his captaincy, where his team lost to CSK. After playing 2 seasons for Gujarat, he returned to Mumbai Indians in November and took charge of Mumbai in IPL 2024.
Hardik Pandya was the captain of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. During this, the team was fined 3 times for slow over rate. If found guilty for the first time, the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh. For doing so for the second time, the captain and 24 other players are fined Rs 12 lakh each. For making such a mistake for the third time, the captain is fined Rs 30 lakh and banned for one match. Other players are also fined.
Playing against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians were found guilty of slow over rate for the third time in the season. Now Hardik Pandya has been banned for one match, so he will not be able to play the first match against Chennai Super Kings, after which he will return to the team.
