The second Test match between India and West Indies is scheduled to be played in Delhi from October 10. Prior to this, Indian captain Shubman Gill spoke about the importance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ODI team. Gill said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have led the Indian team to important victories and the team needs them. He also praised Rohit Sharma's leadership.

Shubman Gill has also become the captain of the Indian ODI team. He will captain Team India in the three-match ODI series against Australia from October 19 to 25.

Shubman Gill said, "I want to adopt Rohit Bhai's calm nature and the friendly atmosphere he creates in the team. Living up to his expectations will be a big challenge for me. I want to play in all formats and win ICC trophies."
On the ODI future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill said, "Both have won many matches for the Indian team. Very few players have so much talent and experience. We need both of them."

India leads the Test series 1-0

India currently leads the Test series 1-0 after a dominant performance in the first Test in Ahmedabad. India defeated West Indies by an innings and 140 runs. Key contributions in the same innings came from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja, all scoring centuries.

The second Test is scheduled to begin tomorrow, October 10, 2025, at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Ahead of the match, head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted a dinner party at his home in Delhi, attended by the Indian team and BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, highlighting team unity and preparation.

India now sits third in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle with an improved points percentage of 55.56, while West Indies currently languish at the bottom with no wins so far in the cycle. This series is critical for India’s momentum in the championship and will test West Indies in challenging conditions.
