Although Shubman Gill is renowned for his composed approach on the field, on Wednesday during the IPL 2024 match in Jaipur against the Rajasthan Royals, the skipper of the Gujarat Titans was seen losing his temper and getting into a furious argument.
When Mohit Sharma bowled to RR captain Sanju Samson in the 17th over, it was a situation that left Gill furious. Pitched at a length considerably outside the off-stump, it was a slower ball.
Samson gave it a great swing, but the ball did not go where he had hoped.
And because the ball went above the tramline, the on-field umpire called it wide. After the umpire gave the wide signal, the Titans chose to request a review to contest the outcome. First, the call made by the on-field umpire was reversed by the third umpire, who declared it to be 'not wide.'
The third umpire then overturned his ruling following a careful examination and gave the on-field umpire instructions to stick with the 'wide' call. Gill became enraged at this development and got into a furious dispute with the umpire.
In the IPL, Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson continued to show off their explosiveness as their aggressive half-centuries helped Rajasthan Royals defeat Gujarat Titans with a commanding total of 196 for three. The Titans appeared to be in charge even though they were only at 43 for two during the powerplay. But Parag (76 off 48) and captain Samson (68 not out of 38) worked together to steal the initiative away from the visitors. In the final ten overs, the Royals went on the attack, scoring an incredible 123 runs.
