On Friday, a tragic accident occurred near the Zojila Pass, situated on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway. Seven people lost their lives and several others were injured after being caught in an avalanche in the Zero Point area of ​​the Zojila Pass. Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan expressed his deep condolences through a post on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) and offered prayers for the safety of those who remain stranded.

This avalanche near the Zojila Pass struck while several vehicles were passing through the area. The incident took place between Zero Point and Minimarg. Videos of the incident are also rapidly going viral on social media. As the snow debris suddenly began to cascade down, people inside the vehicles started to retreat. Within moments, the massive volume of falling snow engulfed the vehicles, burying them beneath the snow. In his post, Shikhar Dhawan wrote, I am praying for the safety of those who are still stranded.

Upon receiving information about the avalanche, a rescue team arrived at the scene and launched an operation to extricate the people buried under the snow. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
