Kolkata on high alert after Delhi blast, Eden Gardens security tightened for India-South Africa Test

Following the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, Kolkata Police have taken a strict security stance. Tight security arrangements are being made ahead of the first Test match between India and South Africa, starting on November 14th at Kolkata's historic Eden Gardens Stadium. The police administration has decided to closely monitor every activity, from team movements to practice sessions and match days.

Kolkata Police on high alert

Security agencies across the country have been put on alert following the Delhi blast, and Kolkata Police has also implemented strict security measures around Eden Gardens and the team hotels. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma is expected to arrive at the stadium on Tuesday to personally review security arrangements. It is reported that blockades have been put in place at all entry and exit points, and incoming and outgoing vehicles are being checked.

CAB and Police Coordinating Together

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is continuously coordinating with the police administration to ensure that there are no lapses in the security of players, officials, and spectators. A CAB official stated that a joint meeting between police and CAB officials regarding security arrangements was held late on Monday night, where the security plan for the match was finalized.

Officials stated that there will be multiple layers of security both inside and outside the stadium. The number of CCTV cameras has been increased around the stadium premises, and bomb squad teams will also be deployed.,

Security Enhanced at Team Hotels

Security has also been increased at the Indian and South African teams' hotels. There is tight coordination between the police and hotel management regarding the players' movements. Security personnel have been deployed on every floor of the hotel, and no one will be allowed to enter the players' area without permission.

Practice to Begin Tuesday

Both teams will begin practice sessions on Tuesday morning. Police have ensured that no outsiders are allowed into the stadium premises during practice sessions. Meanwhile, special escort arrangements have been made for the players' arrival and departure to avoid any unforeseen incidents.

Vigilance Increased After Delhi Blast

Recall that on Monday evening, a car bomb exploded near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station, killing eight people and injuring 24. The blast occurred when the area was crowded. Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha stated that the explosive chemicals used in the blast were extremely dangerous and the aim was to "spread terror throughout Delhi.

This incident has alerted security agencies across the country. In light of this, the Kolkata Police have ensured that there are no security lapses during the India-South Africa Test.,

Safety of Spectators and Players a Top Priority

This match, starting November 14 at Eden Gardens, is considered crucial for both countries. The police administration has stated that the safety of spectators visiting the stadium is also a top priority. Security checks will be strict at the entry gates, and no suspicious object or person will be allowed inside.
