NZ vs WI 3rd T20I: New Zealand beats West Indies by 9 runs to take 2-1 series lead

New Zealand cricket team defeated West Indies by 9 runs in the third T20I played at Nelson, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The Kiwis won the toss and chose to bat first, posting 177/9 in their 20 overs.

New Zealand’s Batting:

Devon Conway played a brilliant half-century, scoring 56 runs off 34 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Daryl Mitchell contributed 41 runs off 24 balls, while Tim Robinson added 23 runs. Rachin Ravindra scored 26 runs off 15 balls. Michael Bracewell made 11 runs, captain Mitchell Santner scored 4, and James Neesham managed 2 runs

West Indies’ Batting:

West Indies had a poor start to their innings. Openers Amir Jangu (5 runs off 4 balls) and Alex Athanaze (31) were dismissed cheaply. Captain Shai Hope fell for just 1 run. Akeem Wynter contributed 24 runs, and Sherfane Rutherford scored 39, providing some resistance. However, the West Indies innings ended at 168 all out in 19.5 overs.

New Zealand’s Bowling:

Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi took 3 wickets each, while Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Bracewell, and Mitchell Santner picked up 1 wicket each, helping New Zealand secure the victory.

With this win, New Zealand has taken a lead in the series and put pressure on West Indies ahead of the remaining matches.

Nelson:

Devon Conway's half-century, followed by strong bowling from Ish Sodhi and Jacob Duffy, helped New Zealand defeat the West Indies by 9 wickets in the third match of the five-match T20 series. With this victory, the Kiwis have now taken a 2-1 lead in the series. New Zealand won the toss and batted first, scoring 177 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, the West Indies were all out for 168 runs in 19.5 overs.

Defending the target of 178 runs, Ish Sodhi and Jack Duffy performed brilliantly for the Kiwis. Ish Sodhi took 3 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs. Sodhi was named Player of the Match for his strong performance. Duffy also took 3 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs. After these two, Kyle Jamieson, Michael Bracewell and captain Mitchell Santner also took one wicket each, which ensured the victory of the Kiwi team.
