The Hundred Auction: The auction for England's cricket league, The Hundred Men, will take place on March 12th. 63 Pakistani players have registered for the auction, including T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, along with Shaheen Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Tariq. A total of 710 players have registered for the league's auction. Players from all countries except India have submitted their names for the auction.
14 Pakistani players shortlisted -
Haris Rauf is among the top 10 players expected to be selected in next week's inaugural Men's Hundred auction. Fourteen Pakistani players have been shortlisted for the auction. The ECB and eight franchises issued a joint statement last week stating that selection would be based on each team's performance, availability, and needs. This statement came after a BBC report stated that four teams with full or partial ownership of IPL franchises would not bid for Pakistani players.
Who are the marquee players?
Out of 710 players, 243 have been shortlisted, including 14 Pakistani players. These include Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Usman Tariq, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usama Mir, Imad Wasim, Aaqib Javed, and Salman Mirza.
Rauf, who was omitted from Pakistan's World Cup squad, is included in the list of 10 marquee players for auction. Marquee players will be the first to go under the hammer. Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, James Vince, Jordan Cox, and Joe Root are the five domestic English players on the marquee player list, while Aiden Markram, David Miller, Sunil Narine, Daryl Mitchell, and Rauf are the marquee foreign players.
Haris Rauf has played in The Hundred -
Rauf has previously played in The Hundred, playing two seasons for Welsh Fire and taking a total of 16 wickets. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the recent Big Bash League. However, despite his impressive performances, he was not given a chance to play in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan is scheduled to tour the West Indies for a Test series during the upcoming Hundred window. It remains to be seen whether Rauf will be available for the full season of The Hundred. He will only be able to play in The Hundred after receiving a no-objection certificate from the PCB.
