Josh Cobb retires from professional cricket

Before the start of IPL 2025, the England all-rounder has announced his retirement. The name of this player is Josh Cobb. Josh Cobb, the only player to become 'Player of the Match' in two T20 Blast finals, has said goodbye to professional cricket. Now he will work for Warwickshire. After retirement, Josh will now take on the new role of Head of the Boys Academy at Warwickshire.

Josh Cobb said since making my debut 18 years ago, it has been a very fun journey, with many ups and downs. I am very grateful to the people I have met, cricket has given me a lot. Scoring my first century at Lord's and winning the T20 Blast final twice are some of the memories I will always cherish.

Josh Cobb Career

Josh Cobb has taken 133 wickets as an off-spin bowler. He first came into the limelight in 2008 when he scored an unbeaten 148 against Middlesex at Lord's, becoming the youngest player to score a century for his team. He has also represented Midlands Counties, Northamptonshire and Worcestershire.

Cobb has scored a total of 13152 runs in 448 professional matches in his 18-year cricket career. Josh Cobb started his career with Leicestershire in 2007 at the age of just 17 and played 448 professional matches.

Josh Cobb was also a Bangladesh Premier League winner with Dhaka Gladiators in 2013 and captained Welsh Fire in the Hundred. He worked as a consultant coach with the Australian players for two weeks during the ODI series in England in September last year. Top-order batsman Cobb won his first Player of the Match award in the T20 Blast final for his bowling.

Five years later, he made 80 off 48 balls to lead Northamptonshire to their second T20 title by defeating Durham at Edgbaston and win his second Player of the Match award.
