Team India, which is on tour to Australia, is now going to make a fresh start in ODIs after the Test series. Rohit Sharma is no longer the captain of this team. The team has got a new captain in the form of Shubman Gill, and with this, the Shubman era is sure to begin in ODIs after Tests, in which many surprises can be seen.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been selected for this series. Both will be seen in Team India jerseys for the first time since the Champions Trophy 2025. Questions are being raised about the future of both. Taking away the captaincy from Rohit and giving it to Gill shows the thinking of the team management that they are not considering both of them in the planning for the ODI World Cup.
The three-match ODI series between Team India and Australia begins on October 19th. The first match will be played at the Perth Stadium, where the pitch is considered fast. The question arises as to which players Team India will select. Since becoming the coach of Team India, Gautam Gambhir has emphasized a left-right combination. However, both right-handed batsmen are in the ODI opening pair. Rohit Sharma and Gill are certain to open the innings, unless Gambhir decides otherwise and drops Rohit and gives a chance to left-handed batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

If Gambhir decides to maintain the left-right combination from the beginning, Rohit could be dropped and Yashasvi could get a chance. However, this is unlikely. Kohli is set to play at number 3, and new vice-captain Shreyas Iyer at number 4. If Rishabh Pant is unavailable, KL Rahul will play as wicketkeeper. He will bat at number 5. After him, it's the turn of the all-rounders. Spin all-rounder Axar Patel and fast bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy are certain to play in the team. Another spin all-rounder, Washington Sundar, could be included in the final 11.
With Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the tour, Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana are certain to play. Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna could be competing for the final spot, but Arshdeep is likely to win as he is a left-arm fast bowler who brings variety to the attack.
Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshit Rana.
