Update ICC ODI Rankings: In major news for Indian cricket, Virat Kohli has made a massive jump to second place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings. He has intensified his efforts to reclaim the top spot from teammate Rohit Sharma, who currently holds the number one spot.

Kohli's consistent performances have propelled him up the rankings. This includes his recent match-winning 135 against South Africa in Ranchi. The gap between Kohli and top-ranked Rohit Sharma is now just eight rating points. Sharma is in first place with 783 points.

Kohli's impressive rise comes after a brilliant ODI series against South Africa, where India won 2-1 and Kohli was named Player of the Series.

  • Centuries: 2 (consecutive in Ranchi and Raipur)

Kohli last held the No. 1 ODI rankings in March 2021, after which Pakistan's Babar Azam took his place at the top.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has maintained his No. 1 spot due to his consistent performances. He has been at the top since March 2025. He scored a total of 146 runs in the series. Kohli's unbeaten 65 in the final match of the series in Visakhapatnam has further reduced the gap between him and Rohit.

Other Batsmen's Positions

  • Shubman Gill: Moves up to No. 3 (having briefly held the top spot earlier in the year).

Kuldeep Yadav also improved in the bowlers' rankings

Apart from the batsmen, spinner Kuldeep Yadav has also made a significant improvement in the ODI rankings. He has climbed three places to No. 3.

  • Top: Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
  • Number 2: Jofra Archer (England)

Kuldeep was India's leading wicket-taker in the ODI series against South Africa. He took nine wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 6.23. His best performance came in the series decider, where he recorded impressive figures of 10-1-41-4.
