Dinesh Karthik appointed coach and mentor of The Hundreds London Spirit team

Former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik is now ready to make his mark in the world of coaching. After being part of the coaching staff with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Karthik has accepted a key role in England's prestigious The Hundred tournament.

New responsibility in The Hundred: Karthik joins London Spirit

London-based franchise London Spirit has officially announced that Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the team's mentor and batting coach. This appointment marks a new chapter for the 40-year-old Karthik, firmly establishing him in the international coaching landscape.

London Spirit's Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed his delight, saying, "We are privileged to welcome Dinesh Karthik to London Spirit. His extensive experience and deep knowledge of franchise cricket in the shortest format will prove invaluable to our team."

Lord's is close to my heart: Dinesh Karthik

Speaking about his new role, Dinesh Karthik expressed his excitement at joining the team. He said, "What a wonderful time it is to join London Spirit. Spending the summer working at Lord's is truly a dream come true. This is the historic ground where I made my international debut for India and played my last Test match. Lord's is very close to my heart."

Karthik expressed confidence that he is looking forward to working with some exceptional cricketers next season and will make a significant contribution to improving the team's performance.

Karthik's experience in foreign leagues

Dinesh Karthik may have retired as a player from domestic cricket after IPL 2024, but he has remained active in other T20 leagues around the world. He is currently part of the Sharjah Warriors in the UAE's ILT20 League. Additionally, he also played for Paarl Royals in the last season of the SA20.

For India, Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20 Internationals, and his experience and deep understanding of the game will be a boon for the young players at London Spirit.
