Pat Cummins Injury IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad's regular captain, Pat Cummins, could miss the first few matches of IPL 2026. According to reports, Abhishek Sharma may captain the team for a few matches in Cummins' absence.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's performance in IPL 2025 was disappointing. Therefore, the SRH team will look to make a fresh start in IPL 2026 by winning their very first match. In the opening match of this season, Hyderabad will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, ahead of this clash, there is "bad news" for the 2016 champions, as Captain Pat Cummins will be unavailable for the first few matches.
Abhishek Sharma to Captain the Team-
Sunrisers Hyderabad's regular captain, Pat Cummins, will miss the initial few matches of IPL 2026. Cummins, who was last seen in action during the Ashes series in December 2025, was unable to play the remainder of that series due to an injury.
Cummins is currently recovering from his injury. If he is unable to play the opening matches for SRH, Abhishek Sharma could be seen leading the team. However, neither Abhishek Sharma nor Sunrisers Hyderabad has issued any official confirmation regarding this matter.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Schedule-
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has, so far, released the schedule for only the first 20 matches of IPL 2026. Hyderabad's first match is scheduled for March 28 against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore; this match will also serve as the opening fixture of IPL 2026.

Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the final of the 2024 season, but in the title clash, they suffered an 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. In that season, SRH's batting lineup wreaked havoc, but the team crumbled when it came to the final.
