The Stadion An der Alten Försterei is Berlin's largest "true" football stadium, with a capacity of 22,012 spectators for Bundesliga matches, although it does not yet fully meet the requirements of the DFB and Category 3 football stadiums. Since its reconstruction in 1920, it has been the home stadium of 1. FC Union Berlin and its predecessor clubs. Located in Köpenick in the southeast of the capital, the stadium has a total of 18,395 standing places and 3,617 seats. In the 2013/14 season, the average attendance was 19,889, representing an occupancy rate of approximately 92 percent. Between 2008 and 2013, the stadium underwent its most recent renovation and expansion, after which all four stands were fully covered. A significant portion of the construction work was carried out by Union fans on a volunteer basis. Consequently, the "Wild Side" in the north and the "Gegengerade" in the east, as well as the "Wild Side" in the south, consist entirely of standing areas. The main stand on the west side also includes seating.
