Stadio Giovanni Zini History

Stadio Giovanni Zini is a football stadium in Cremona, Italy. It is currently home to U.S. Cremonese. Built in 1919, it has a capacity of 14,834. The stadium was named after Giovanni Zini [it], a goalkeeper for U.S. Cremonese who was killed during World War I. On 16 November 2013, it hosted Italy's year-end rugby union international against Fiji. Italy won 37–31. The stadium hosted the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship, including its final. The stadium's 2017–19 renovation converted it into an all-seater stadium, reducing the capacity from 20,641 to 16,003. Further work was carried out ahead of the 2022–23 Serie A season to adapt the competition and to further improve design elements that date back to 1929. This reduced the capacity by a further 1,169 seats, bringing the total to 14,834.
