NBA 2021-22 will see Toronto Raptors facing off against Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, 12 January 2022 at 06:00 AM IST

Raptors have a lot of scoring options in their main five but it has been mostly the play of Fred Van Vleet that has lifted the team.

Fred has been on fire, scoring 27 or more in seven of the last games, and mostly 30+ points. With his scoring, the defense has been attracted at the perimeter, opening up lanes for other players.

Siakam has been equally impressive in terms of his value, scoring 25+ points in some of the games recently while OG Anunoby’s return has bolstered the much-needed scoring front.

The Raptors doesn’t have a strong scoring bench but yes two more than decent rebounders and defenders in athletic Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa.

Gary Trent is not in his groove due to conditioning issues but once he returns to form, along with Barnes, the team can have five effective scorers in the main five.

However, a lack of depth at almost all positions except big Forward and Center can hurt the team big time in the long run.

Contrary to the Raptors, the bench of the Suns has been deep at all positions. Now when you have a playmaker like Chris Paul, a scorer like Devin Booker, a couple of two-way wings in Crowder and Bridges, paired with a double-double Center Deandre Ayton, that in itself is scary.

With Cameron Johnson coming off the bench, you get pretty much a similar wing like Crowder and Bridges, Cameron Payne is more than a decent point guard, JaVale McGee, and Jalen Smith can make up for back-up Center minutes bringing top-notch inside scoring and rebounding.

Overall, the Suns are stacked in terms of both offense and defense. With Crowder and Ayton getting their conditioning back, the team can have some lineup shuffles but overall, the Suns are heading towards a 60+ wins season.
