Wales Junior Women (WAL-J-W) Team Updates:
India beat Wales 5-1 in their opening match of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup at Potchefstroom, South Africa, on Saturday.
Wales lone goal was scored by Millie Holme in the 26th minute from a field strike.
The Indians started on a bright note and secured an early penalty corner but Deepikas drag-flick was saved by the Welsh goalkeeper.
But India was not to be denied for long as they took the lead in the fourth minute when Lalremsiami deflected in Sangita Kumaris shot towards the goal.
Wales also tested the Indian defense early on but failed to get past agile custodian Bichu Devi.

Wales drew parity in the second quarter through Holme as both the teams went into the halfway break at 1-1.
Wales started aggressively after the change of ends but it was India who restored their lead two minutes into the third quarter through a field goal by Lalrindiki.
Austria Junior Women (AUT-J-W) Team Updates:
Last week’s decision by the Executive Board (EB) of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to exclude Russia from the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup, the national team of Austria will now join this top-flight event scheduled from 1 to 12 April in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Austria will take the place of Russia in Pool C, therefore joining Argentina, Korea, and Uruguay.
It will be Austria’s first-ever participation in the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup.
Furthermore, FIH continues to be in contact with the Hockey Association of Ukraine and is still hopeful that the Ukrainian team will be able to participate in the event in South Africa
