The result of the second match of the two-Test series played between South Africa and Sri Lanka came on 9 December. South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 109 runs. With this victory, South Africa has topped the points table. South Africa now has 63.33 percent points with 6 wins in 10 matches. Australia, which became number 1 by defeating Team India yesterday, has slipped to second place. Australia has 60.71 percent points with 9 wins in 14 matches.
Sri Lanka's defeat has shocked Sri Lanka as well as India. If Sri Lanka had won this match, Team India would have come to second place and South Africa could have slipped to third place. Whereas Team India, which was at third place, could have come to number two. The only loss that India suffered was that it could not come in the top-2 due to Sri Lanka's defeat. But it still remains at number three. It has 57.29 percent points. Now in the points table of the World Test Championship, Sri Lanka is at the fourth place with 45.45 percent points after losing the Test series against South Africa.
